SESSION DESCRIPTION:

The Washington School-Based Health Alliance is pleased to be partnering with the national School-Based Health Alliance (SBHA) to offer school-based health center (SBHC) nuts and bolts trainings in Washington during the 2022-2023 school year.

The Year One SBHC Business Planning session will demonstrate the purpose of a business plan, taking a deeper dive into the development of an SBHC Year One Business Plan. The training will build on previous trainings and connect to the Readiness Assessment and the Needs Statement.

During this interactive session, participants will become familiar with the eight components of the Year One Business Plan and will have an opportunity to discuss all eight components and think through some possible goals and objectives. The Work Plan for the Year One Business Plan will be shared.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

 Participants will:

  • Understand the purpose of having a business plan
  • Be able to list the eight components of a year-one (Y1) business plan
  • Become familiar with the work plan for completing the Y1 business plan

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

Anyone interested in and/or currently planning for a SBHC.

PRESENTER:

Tammy Alexander, MEd is the Vice President of State Relations at the School-Based Health Alliance. She has worked in the school-based health care field at the state and national level since 1993. She joined the School-Based Health Alliance in 2016. Her current work at SBHA includes state relations, policy, consulting, and oral health. Tammy has an undergraduate degree from Oregon State, and she completed her Masters in Education from the University of Virginia in 1979.
