Both President Joe Biden and Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona have made it clear that getting our students safely back into the classroom full time is a top priority in the first 100 days of this administration. In order to accomplish this task, we must include school district leaders, educators, parents, and students in the conversation on best practices for resuming in class instruction.
On Wednesday, March 24, the U.S. Department of Education will host a National Safe School Reopening Summit. This summit will allow education leaders, parents, and students to discuss this critical issue. Bringing these stakeholders together offers an opportunity to connect people from around the nation and share thoughts on getting our students back into schools quickly and safely.
This fully virtual summit will start at 9am PST / 12 noon EDT and feature remarks from First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Secretary Cardona, and Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Dr. Rochelle Walensky. During the summit, there will be panels of health experts, educators, and students on their various perspectives surrounding the reopening of schools.
