DOH will soon be accepting Request for Funding Applications (RFA) for additional school-based health center (SBHC) grants.

These grant awards are made possible through funding from the Washington State Legislature through SHB 1225 (2021), which aims to expand and sustain SBHCs in Washington for K-12 students in public schools with a focus on communities and populations that have been historically underserved. We expect to award:

  • 1 planning grant ($50,000) to plan for a new SBHC in a community or school where one does not currently operate
  • 6-9 operations grants ($100,000-$150,000) to sustain, improve, or expand operations at an existing SBHC

Potential applicants can begin preparing for the application now by:

  • Identifying how an SBHC project could improve a need in their community
  • Reviewing the DOH SBHC Grant Requirements
  • Collecting letters of support from partners, including:
    • School/school district administration and supporting staff
    • Community organizations or members that represent the community or population served by the SBHC
