The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) invites Washingtonians to apply to the School-Based Health Center (SBHC) Community Advisory Board.
Who we’re looking for: Young people (ages 16-21), parents or guardians, school staff, health care providers, and community members. We welcome applications from Washingtonians who are passionate about improving young people’s access to health care in our state. Advisory board members will participate in meetings to share their thoughts, ideas, and recommendations on school-based health care. Your work will guide DOH’s SBHC program to make sure our activities are relevant and can better serve our young people. Members will receive compensation for their time.
We will select applicants who come from communities most impacted by the lack of health care opportunities in our state. We especially encourage applications from people who have lived experiences with:
- Challenges with access to receiving health care.
- Visible or invisible disabilities
- Government systems like juvenile justice, child protective services, or foster care.
- Behavioral and mental health conditions and treatment
- Health conditions that last a long-time and their treatment.
- Facing barriers or discrimination related to race, ethnicity, income, gender, sexual orientation, and more.
- Houselessness or unstable housing
Apply to the CAB: We are accepting applications online until February 24, 2023. You can complete your application and find more information on the SBHC Community Advisory Board webpage. Materials will be available in Spanish by Monday, February 6.
We are asking our partners to help us get the word out. Please share information about this opportunity with your contacts connected with schools, adolescent health care, youth organizations, young people, and families across the state.
